Accountant II

Leonard Workforce Solutions is recruiting an Accountant II for my client, Scranton Counseling Center in Scranton, PA.

This is a full-time, ON-SITE position. Typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Starting salary range is $65,000 - $70,000/year DOE + amazing benefits, including healthcare, dental, vision, vacation, tuition reimbursement, highly generous 401(k) plan, and more.

Summary/Objective
Scranton Counseling Center, the area's largest and rapidly growing behavioral health care provider, is seeking a detail-oriented, effective, experienced, and personable accounting professional to join our growing team as a Staff Accountant II. The successful candidate will possess strong analytic, organization, communication, and customer service skills. The Staff Accountant II will play an important role within the finance department and report to the Controller.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and reconciliation of general ledger and bank accounts

  • Processing journal entries

  • Maintain schedules for prepaids, fixed assets, donations, and grants

  • Assist with Annual Financial Audit and interface with external auditors

  • Assist in month end closing activities, including preparing Financial Statements

  • Prepare Year end 1099s

  • Maintain and keep updated processing procedures

  • Process insurance and consumer payments

  • Track accounts receivable, including insurance and past due accounts

  • Assist in annual operating budget cycle

  • Act as backup to the controller

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required

  • 3- 5 years accounting experience preferred

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, QuickBooks preferred

  • Hands on person with the ability to dig in and work through obstacles

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to communicate in a pleasant and efficient manner with staff at all levels in the organization

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to professionally address issues

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
