Engineering Manager

Pittston, PA

Leonard Workforce Solutions is recruiting an Engineering Manager for my client, Lesjofors in Pittston, PA.

This is a full-time, ON-SITE leadership position. Typical schedule is M-F 8:30am-5pm, but start and end times can be flexible. Flexibility is also needed to meet business demands.

Starting salary range is $115,000 - $120,000/year + bonus opportunity + amazing benefits.

Purpose:

Administer and engineer capital investment actions for design and development of process improvements and strategy.  Sustain operation of existing equipment and create opportunities to improve it when possible.  Provide leadership to Process Engineering and unionized trades (toolroom and maintenance departments).  Control budgets in tool room and maintenance departments. Support other departmental efforts as needed. 

Result:  EBIT gains, improve security for future business development, support business growth

Principal Activities and Results:

  1. Capital Project Administration (Time: 30%)

    HOW IS IT DONE:

    • Develop capital project concepts to improve production efficiency and support new business development

    • Design and Engineer approve concepts

    • Manage and administer capital improvement projects timely and efficiently in accordance with business objectives

    RESULTS OF ACTION:

    • Improvement to operational needs for conversion of raw materials and labor resulting in productivity being maintained or improved.

    2. Sustain operation of existing equipment and create opportunities to improve it when possible (Time: 25%)

    HOW IS IT DONE:

    • Implement and sustain effective systems to maintain production equipment.

    • Identify opportunities for improvement and take action to achieve them.

    • Develop processes for new product introduction.

    RESULTS OF ACTION:

    • Improvement measurement for critical dimensions relative to customer satisfaction, productivity gains, quality improvement and worker satisfaction, including CSF’s and improvement measures.

    3. Provide leadership to Manufacturing Engineering Department and unionized trades (toolroom and maintenance departments) (Time: 25%)

    HOW IS IT DONE:

    • Meetings with staff to discuss short term and long term issues for production and engineering related activities.

    • Identifying areas for improvement sharing vision with others in the organization.

    • Setting and following up on goals for project/task completion.

    RESULTS OF ACTION:

    • Clear communication on short term needs and long term goals. Departments stay on task with activities. Other departments are satisfied with level of service.

    4. Control budgets in tool room and maintenance departments (Time: 10%)

    HOW IS IT DONE:

    • Follow-up with departments to assure they are on task and utilizing time in providing services for appropriate departments.

    • Provide vision on departmental use of resources and share with others in organization.

    • Report on results with appropriate actions required

    RESULTS OF ACTION:

    • Time is used effectively and budgets are under control.

    • Positive variance in use of resources over time.

    • Projects completed on schedule

    5. Support other departmental efforts (Time: 10%)

    HOW IS IT DONE:

    • Support safety initiatives through service on required activities.

    • Support production requests through work center requests.

    • Support sample department efforts to develop new products.

    • Support new product development efforts when orders are received.

    RESULTS OF ACTION:

    • The actions results in each department getting the required support in a timely manner using the existing resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years of successful hands-on engineering/maintenance management experience in an industrial environment.

  • Computer systems knowledge including experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Auto-CAD.
