Organizations are changing.  How will you respond?

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to create an environment where change is inevitable. In some cases, it is transforming the way in which organizations function, and are structured.

As every organization adapted to its new set of circumstances, the proactive ones looked at this as time to pivot. They are embracing ways they can offer new products and services, and changing their operating models to match.

As an employee or job seeker, you have two choices: you can look at this kind of change as something out of your control and wait for it to potentially impact your position. Or, you can view it as an opportunity to advance your career and showcase your diverse set of skills. When we frame change occurring in our workplace as beneficial, we can prepare ourselves to take action.

This is your time. Understand that this kind of organizational change can mean OPPORTUNITY for YOU!

While all of this change means some jobs will be eliminated, it also means that new job opportunities will be created.  Ones that did not exist before.  Ones you are not aware of.  And often ones that may be a perfect fit for you.

So, the question becomes – how will you respond to this organizational change?

Will you wait to see what the result of this change is and then act?

Or will you proactively reach out to your contacts at your desired employer (or even your current company) to learn about new opportunities as they are being developed?

The first option is reactive and puts you in the same boat as the typical employee and job seeker.  That is a crowded boat.

The latter option positions you to be a part of the change, or to be first in line when opportunities arise.

Not all change in the workplace is bad.  If you embrace change with a growth mindset, intentionally network, and target your job search, you are likely to benefit from the organizational change occurring.

Choose your choice wisely.
